Jasper the Penguin

Synopsis

Jasper the penguin is convinced that there is more to the world than merely ice and snow. One fine day he uses the opportunity of an ice floe breaking up, to leave the South Pole and venture onto greener shores. He meets up with 8 year old Emma; from then on she becomes his inseparable friend and shares in all his joys, woes and adventures. Jasper settles into his new abode - the cellar of a junk shop - and stretches out his hammock directly in front of an abandoned but functioning refrigerator - a chilly home sweet home away from home sweet home!

From here Jasper discovers this new world; he never fails to stop wondering about human beings. They move around on rolling houses, called buses, eat coloured snow, dress up to look like penguins when they go to brightly lit music houses and every so often also get the feathers on their heads ruffled up! Jasper is regularly on the lookout for his favourite food - fresh fish, which he loves to eat, and - a cool spot - his adopted little harbour home town is often too warm for him.

"Ahoi from the other end of the world". After each adventure Jasper writes home to his family in the South Pole and reports about the latest happening - in a message-in-a-bottle. And every bottle also contains a little surprise-something - a comb, a bus ticket or a little spade, to illustrate his adventure and what he has learned from it. There is no end to the astonishment of the penguins back home about the wonders of this incredible, strange and far-away world - and Jasper is The Trendsetter!
